Be a part of bringing the Motor Mill story to life

Contributions to the Motor Mill Foundation support restoration and education that tell the story of the dream of John Thompson and James Crosby.  This is a story of agriculture, milling, transportation, and communities of the 19th century in rural Iowa.  You can be a part of the story!

Continuing Restoration of the Mill Site

The Mill restoration is close to completion. Other buildings on site, including the Cooperage and Inn are also in need of significant repair.  Volunteers do as much as possible, but specialized labor and skills need to be paid for as part of the restoration process.

The Motor Mill Foundation has established an endowment for the long-term restoration and upkeep of the site. Click here to be taken to the endowment website.

Educational Site

The Motor Mill Historic site provides educational experiences for all ages. A paid intern in the summer of 2017 made it possible to have weekly tours from May to September. STEM events, camps public programs and more are designed to increase opportunities for exploration and education on site. Your support will continue to enhance these exciting opportunities!
