2018 Motor Mill Art Show – That’s a Wrap!

Over 100 visitors came to Motor Mill on a hot September afternoon to enjoy the 2nd Annual Motor Mill Art Show.  Tours, music, a brand new video telling the story of Motor Mill and beautiful Mill/northeast Iowa Inspired art greeted guests as they entered the Mill.  A walk around the Mill site provided opportunities to create, view and purchase art as well has have a refreshing treat.  The Motor Mill Foundation is grateful to all vendors and activity providers for making the art fest part of their calendar!  Free Wi-Fi for the day, courtesy of Alpine Communications was much appreciated too! Seeking Unique Motor Mill Artwork!

If you have a one-of-a-kind piece of art depicting Motor Mill hanging on your wall, we would love to display it in our second annual art show! We’re searching for hidden gems in private collections that should be seen and enjoyed by a wider audience. Any Motor Mill artwork or photography will be accepted to be displayed inside of the mill during the show. To register, call 563-245-1516 or email aharkrader@claytoncountyia.gov. Registration information and forms will be sent. Be sure to register by the August 27th deadline! A huge thank you to Thrivent for the grant to help with costs of putting this event on!

The Motor Mill Foundation invites you to the 2nd Annual Motor Mill Art Show on Saturday, September 15 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.   WiFi will be available at Motor Mill on September 15th due to the generosity of Alpine Communications, Elkader Iowa. 24 Kids had fun at Nature’s STEM

This summer, a second Nature’s STEM event was held at Motor Mill. This children’s day camp was even more successful than last year with 24 kids total! This event gives kids an opportunity to connect science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to both Motor Mill and the nature surrounding it. A bonus this year was a Nature’s Art activity. Activities this year included painting wood cookies with natural paint brushes the kids made, learning about wildlife populations, making natural boats to test off the Motor Mill bridge, understanding how the mill was powered, and learning about different technologies used around one hundred years ago.
