Motor Mill Historic Site

The Motor Mill Historic Site is a peaceful natural area that features a six-story limestone flouring mill and four related stone buildings dating from the late 1860’s. Motor Mill is located on the banks of the Turkey River in Clayton County, Iowa. The site has been owned and managed by the Clayton County Conservation Board since 1983. The Motor Mill Foundation assists the Conservation Board with planning, site development, preservation efforts, programming, and funding.

The site is open to the public, though the interior of the mill is only accessible during tours. Tours are provided on Saturdays during the summer months and on several fall weekends.

Public Tours are held on a regular schedule during summer & early fall.  Group and private tours can also be scheduled outside the regular tour times by appointment.
